This trail rises from Cordilleras Creek to some of the highest points in Pulgas Ridge, with expansive views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the southern Peninsula. This is one of the longer trails in the park, but the additional effort of hiking the length of this route is rewarded with spectacular views.

Dogs are allowed on the trail, although they should be on leash. There is a portion of the preserve for dogs to be off leash, but the Dusky-footed Woodrat Trail is outside that zone.
The woods along the Dusky-footed Woodrat Trail are very peaceful.
