Big Ring

Overview

This is another one of the super fun XC trails at Mammoth Mountain Bike Park. It's open for 2-way traffic, although most people descend it down to Canyon Lodge and combine it with the many other nearby bike park trails. The trailhead is by the big kiosk where Manzanita and Paper Route hit each other. It's mostly buff singletrack, with a few rocky switchback sections. All in all, it's a fun challenge for a beginning/intermediate rider, and can be a super fast romp for the best riders. Visibility is good, for the most part, so you can get going pretty fast in those sections. A portion of this trail is used for climbing up the popular Mammoth Lakes Big Friggin Loop, so always beware of uphill riders.

There's also a connector with Downtown Trail in the middle of the trail, so you have options of bailing out or joining it from Downtown, which opens up loop options from The Village or Main Lodge. Get yourself a Bike Park pass and map and have at it!!
