Torrey Pines Loop Trail

Overview

Starting from the bottom of Gonzalez Canyon Open Space Trails, Sword Way Trail ascends up a very steep utility/fireroad. At the top is Torrey Highlands Park. Once at the top there is a sign on the left (east) of the utility/fireroad Torrey Pines Loop Trail. It begins with a small drop onto singletrack and descending switchbacks.

After the switchbacks is a small bridge crossing and step up. From here, the trail winds through trees and thick brush and a small ascent on the east side of the loop. From here, the Torrey Pines Loop Trail continues descending through thick brush with two sections of rock step downs. There are some cactus patches to the sides of the trails, beware. Near the bottom is another small bridge crossing and switchbacks. From here, the trail levels out and ends at Sword Way Trail loop.
