This is one of the crown-jewel singletrack trails of the park. This pretty trail starts out climbing gently, then steps up to a serious incline with rolling terrain. Cross multiple bridges along the way. Toward its end, it settles into a playful section of tight twists around the trees in an almost-flat section forested with redwoods. The Giant Salamander Trail is a singletrack trail that was converted from a dirt road. It is a convenient and fun way to connect the north and southern halves of the preserve.

Riding this trail from either direction is awesome, but it's more fun (more downhill excitement) if you start from Timberview Trail. This trail gets crowded sometimes and there are bikers going in either direction - check your speed on the blind turns.
The sun JUST peaking through some second growth redwoods.
