From the Skyline to the Sea Trail, the Basin Trail heads north through chaparral and then passes under a grove of redwoods at about 0.7 miles. Continue through chaparral and mixed conifer forest to a view from a rocky outcrop at 1.7 miles. Pass another outcrop a short while later, and then descend to the end of the trail at Lane Trail Camp and the junction with the Hollow Tree Trail and Basin Trail Easement.
