The Maguire Peak Loop Trail is accessed through Welch Creek Road. Start from Maguire Peak Trail, in approximately 1.2 miles you'll see the trail marker for Maguire Peak Loop Trail. <br><br>We prefer to start the trail from the right of the loop because it gives two advantages: the return has more shade and is mostly downhill.<br><br>The halfway point is marked by the Maguire Peak "bench". From here you can get a wonderful view of Mission Peak, Niles Canyon, Pleasanton Ridge, Mount Diablo, and more. Continue on Maguire Peak Loop Trail for a downhill return or include 0.2 miles of Maguire Summit Trail to reach Maguire Peak. I have always gone to the peak, because the splendid views of the surrounding peaks are worth it.
