Upper Calavera Fault Trail

Overview

The Upper Calavera Fault Trail begins off of the Sierra Vista Trail and heads northeast for a short, half-mile climb to the northern edge of the preserve. The trail will loop back to the southwest and start a steady downhill, passing the Cutoff Trail on your right. The Cutoff Trail, true to its name, simply cuts off a section of the Upper Calavera Fault Trail if you feel like shortening your hike.

Continuing on the Upper Calavera Fault Trail, you'll hike through chaparral and live oak woodland before connecting back to the Sierra Vista Trail.
