Overview
Little Llagas Creek Trail takes one up to the east end of Bald Peaks Trail from near the Rancho Canada del Oro parking area. This trail starts from Longwall Canyon Trail, about 0.1 miles from the Longwall Canyon Trailhead near the parking area. Alternatively, one can bypass Longwall Canyon Trail and immediately start off on Little Llagas Creek Trail by going right almost immediately from the Longwall Canyon Trailhead on the Little Llagas Creek Trail Access.<br><br>From its start on Longwall Canyon Trail, Little Llagas Creek Trail runs through a grassy, creekside meadow. After just a few hundred yards, the trail reaches Little Llagas Creek Trail Access on the right, crosses the creek on a sturdy bridge, and enters the woods.<br><br>Little Llagas Creek Trail is flat as it goes through the woods with the road off to the right of the trail. About 0.3 miles from its starting point, the trail emerges from the woods into grassy terrain dotted with trees and veers away from the road through the grasses.<br><br>Then, about 0.5 miles from its starting point, Little Llagas Creek Trail begins to climb a ridge. The trail switchbacks up through the woods and grass, then circles around the end of the ridge and veers left (northwest) onto the other side of the ridge. Views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and Loma Prieta emerge over the surrounding grass and wooded terrain.<br><br>Upon heading northwest on the steep hillside of the ridge, the trail goes through thinly wooded terrain to climb the ridge gradually. Then, about 1.1 miles from the trail's starting point, the trail widens to doubletrack as it continues to climb more steeply now through brush and grass to the ridge top and the Bald Peaks Trail.
