The ride starts out steep up paved Upper Lopez Canyon Road to High Ridge gate. Continue up ridge on fire break to top for view of lake. Follow ridge line down to the north and then back west into the oak forest. Stay left at the junctions until bottom of ridge next to lake go right on well maintained flat dirt road to BSA Camp Mabel French. <br><br>Through the parking lot, cross seasonal creek through meadow area to singletrack of Duna Vista Loop is normally ridden clockwise with a side trip out Duna Vista Spur trail. There's a steep climb up (hike a bike) on the lower portion of the loop, and it's more technical on the lower portion of the downhill on the Duna Vista Loop. <br><br>Duna Vista Spur is an excellent MTB trail, with narrow singletrack, good flow, not steep at all. There's a viewpoint at end of Dam and beyond to the dunes. Return back to Duna Vista Loop. After trip out to Duna Vista, follow dirt road back to base of ridge, follow paved park road for .25 mile to Arboleda Pinic Area and Cougar Trail. <br><br>Follow the moderate singletrack on the Cougar Trail up, through and around campgrounds to park entrance. Out of the park, 1 mile back to the car.
