Lord of the Ridges Loop

Overview

This ride is made up of many trails. There are some ups and downs and technical sections at steep hills.

The ride begins on the Scott Canyon Trail that starts as a wide, fairly maintained fire road. There are many small side trails and variations on either side of the trail, which do a good job of keeping things more interesting. As you get further up the trail, it narrows to a doubletrack and has some short steep climbs as things get slightly more technical.

From Scott Canyon Trail, take a right onto Scott Ridge. The trail is a wide fire road, which winds up to Razor Ridge. The climb is mostly easy, except for one little pitch in the road. There are also a few blind corners, so watch out for oncoming hikers or other bikers coming down.

Next up is Razor Ridge. Razor Ridge is a wide to narrow singletrack with a moderate ascent up the exposed Razor Back before it reaches Dragon Back. This short section has a few hills to climb to bring you to The Wall. This is a short, flowing trail section with some whoop-de-doos here and there. The trail has a few steep hills to climb and some short downhills, which can be loose or rutted out.

Continue onto Shotgun Ridge to connect to West Ridge. From here, there is an early, steep, and rutted downhill section which is followed by one big climb to the highest point in the preserve and the southern end of East Ridge. From this point, the trail heads left along the top of a ridge to reach Beaumont Ridge. Head north on Beaumont Ridge to follow it along the ridge towards the telephone line towers at the other end. Make a left at the towers and follow the road down the steep grade to Lower Scott Canyon, which takes you back to the park.
