Morning Glory starts inconspicuously as the continuation of Botanical at a junction with an old mining road. The trail immediately drops into a set of tight, moderately rocky turns that end in a sudden creek crossing and momentum-robbing steep uphill (mile 0.4).

The trail continues nearly flat for a bit, then drops off steeply into a loose traverse and switchback. A second short flat section leads to a fast straight section and a second set of tight switchbacks and the rocky crossing of a second creek (mile 1.3). A climb out of the creek and flat section are finished by a short drop down to the bottom of Shooters.

Common access routes to Morning Glory are from Hwy 101 via TV Tower Rd, or from Cal Poly via Stenner Creek, Shooters, and TV Tower Rd.

Note: The above mentioned old mining road and others that lead off of the Botanical and Morning Glory trails traverse California Army National Guard and/or California Men's Colony (prison) land. Trespassing carries a hefty fine, if not worse.
