This semi-technical singletrack heads east from the Hot Springs Trailhead off Hot Springs Canyon Road at a sustained climb. The grade eases as the trail get higher, eventually leveling out a little past the five-mile mark as it encircles Sugarloaf Peak (~3,200'), just before Cocktail Rock.<br><br>This large, flat rock marks the intersection with the New San Juan Trail, which comes in from the southeast. Continue to the northeast on this old section of trail with a brief descent before making the final push up to Blue Jay Campground.
