The trail starts at the intersection with Icehouse Canyon Trail #7W07A 0.9 miles from the trailhead and climbs a series of switchbacks north from the junction into Cedar Canyon where a seasonal spring flows. Cedar Glen Campground is about 1.3 miles from the junction. The trail continues for about 2.3 more miles, climbing out of Cedar Canyon then following a steady grade before rejoining Icehouse Canyon Trail #7W07A further east.

The Chapman Trail was built to replace a large section of the Icehouse Canyon Trail #7W07A but most forest users preferred the original route, so both are still maintained.

Thanks to John McKinney, The Trailmaster, for sharing this trail description.
