Josephine Peak Road #2N64

Overview

This dirt road starts behind a gate, across the road from the Clear Creek fire station, at the intersection of Highway 2 and the Angeles Forest Highway. The road climbs at a moderate grade up a saddle in 2.6 miles where there is a junction with the Josephine Saddle Road #2N64.A. From here, you can continue up to the top of Josephine Peak (to the left), or join Colby Canyon Trail #12W23 (to the right), which either loops around Strawberry Peak or drops back down to Highway 2. Continuing to the top of Josephine Peak is steep, but gives a 360-degree view of LA and the San Gabriel Mountains at the top. The summit has an electronic site.
